Dear GLCA colleagues,

We invite participation in the Digital Liberal Arts Across the Curriculum (DLA 101) workshop, to be hosted at DePauw University, May 22-25, 2018.

The goal of The Digital Liberal Arts Across the Curriculum project, funded by the GLCA Expanding Collaboration initiative, is to promote the integration of liberal arts approaches to digital pedagogy across the curriculum. To this end, the project curates a digital archive of materials to encourage and instruct faculty in introducing digital pedagogies in their classes and digital methods in their research collaborations with students.

In Phase I of the project, participants created a series of individual classroom modules that foreground a particular digital approach, such as video storytelling, digital mapping, literary macroanalysis. Through an extensive resource page they also act as a set of instructions for easily incorporating the given approach into the content of multiple disciplines. The modules can be used as course content or as material to facilitate research and artistic/scholarly productivity. The DLA 101 website (http://www.dla101.org/) contains the modules produced in Phase I.

In Phase II, we will add new modules and host a DLA 101 workshop at DePauw. The workshop will include a general orientation to fundamental digital tools and methods as well as demonstrations of the individual modules, with the aim of preparing participants to use the modules in their classes. Workshop participants will receive a $500 stipend and travel expenses. Spaces are limited, and we will accept participants until the workshop is full.
